Reinjection.

→ APPLICATIONS / REINJECTION

XPEL reduces the volume of water requiring reinjection, helping operators manage disposal capacity and maintain stable subsurface injection rates.

REINJECTION

Reinjection systems are constrained by subsurface conditions such as formation pressure, well integrity, and regulatory injection limits. When water volumes approach or exceed these thresholds, reinjection capacity becomes a limiting factor rather than a disposal solution.

As reinjection capacity tightens, operational flexibility declines. Injection rates must be managed more aggressively, disposal planning becomes less predictable, and reliance on contingency measures such as storage, hauling, or production adjustments increases operational cost and risk.

XPEL evaporation technology relieves pressure on reinjection systems by reducing the volume of water that must be injected. By removing excess water at the surface, evaporation provides an upstream method to manage disposal demand before subsurface limits are reached.

XPEL supports reinjection operations by lowering surface water volumes, stabilizing injection rates, and reducing the need for additional disposal wells or infrastructure while maintaining compliant, predictable outcomes.

Reinjection applications.

Reinjection is used across extractive industries to manage large volumes of produced water where surface disposal is restricted. XPEL enables operators to reduce water volumes prior to reinjection, reducing pressure on subsurface systems and supporting stable, compliant disposal.

  • Oil and gas operations use reinjection to dispose of brine and to maintain reservoir pressure during enhanced oil recovery. XPEL evaporation reduces excess surface water volume before reinjection. This approach lowers disposal demand while preserving reinjection capacity for pressure maintenance.

  • Mining operations use reinjection to manage process or tailings water where surface discharge is restricted. XPEL evaporation system lowers the volume requiring subsurface injection. This process eases pressure on reinjection systems and supporting stable operations where geological capacity is limited.

Pontoon
evaporators

When land based units aren’t an option, the XPEL Pontoon Series evaporator is a water management solution that can be relied on to help reduce the risk of excess water and ensure environmental compliance by reducing the volume of water stored on-site using mechanically enhanced evaporation.
